All About Brooches
Brooches, have not always been embraced by all ages and genders but now we are seeing a big change, from our grandma’s favorite accessory to even male celebrities wearing them on the red carpet; brooches are definitely making a comeback.
It may not be the accessory most worn but when it is flaunted, for better or worst, it always catches everyone’s attention. Make sure you pair your choice of brooch with a correct outfit. You do not want to have something sparkly if you are already wearing an attention grabbing dress and if your outfit is simple; feel free to wow the crowd with an amazing eye-catching brooch. They are not meant to be stand alone accessories but rather compliments to whatever you are already wearing.
When shopping for brooches we have every option possible. For a vintage look, try shopping for brooches at places like second hand stores or flea markets. Many times all the piece really needs is a good polishing and it is ready to be pinned. For a more variety of styles, stores like Forever 21 and Macy’s carry different brands and styles. Prices can range from a couple dollars to well over twenty. At these stores you will find pieces you’d love to wear, as well as something for your mother, sister and grandmother as well.
Online is the next place to look, from used to new, you are sure to find any style online, you might even be able to customize it. As always, the bad thing about shopping online is the shipping and handling as well as the disadvantage of not being able to inspect your potential buy for yourself. Another thing to keep in mind is that here and there shirts and jackets may already come with a brooch; if this is the case keep it, even if you do not like the piece at the time, who knows you may be able to match it with something in the future or even give it away to someone.
If you already have a few brooches and you find some are broken, do not despair, head to Michael's and just hot glue the pin back on it. If this is not possible then maybe take an old ring and see if you can hot glue those together. Sometimes, you just might use that old brooch to make a whole new creation.
