This form of Jade comes from the Jadeite and its appearance is seen as bright emerald green in color with a beautiful transparency. Most of this fine Jade originates from Burma but can also be found in Guatemala and a few other places in the world. The most common type of jade is Nephrite. It is more plentiful which makes it the least expensive between the two. It can be found in many places throughout the world and even in the United States. The choices of color are fewer than Jadeite. Its color is often seen as less brighter and clearer than Jadeite since it is a softer stone that cannot be highly polished. Jade jewelry is priced according to the quality of the stone differing from diamonds which are sold by the carat. The better the pattern, translucency and texture the more valuable the piece will be.

The taste in jewelry has changed today with women wanting to dress fashionably and keep up with current styles. Wearing a piece of beautifully crafted jade jewelry will make a true fashion statement since it is so distinctly recognized from the traditional look seen today. When choosing a piece of jade jewelry you should look for pieces that have consistent color throughout. Also brighter colors and green jade pieces are the more popular choices today. Also keep in mind that semi-transparent to translucent jade jewelry will be more expensive than opaque jade. Look for pieces that have no visible cracks or flaws. Highly polished pieces that are finely textured are considered good choices when selecting a piece of jade jewelry.
