The Peridot is a gemstone that is always green in color, although the shade of green can be darker or lighter depending on the amount of iron in its properties. Often mistaken for emerald it is in fact a much lower cost gemstone than emerald, and a much harder type of gemstone. There are however also different types of these same gem stones within there classification.
